After I gave birth to my 6th child I was having problems nursing her. I couldn't seem to produce enough milk for her and she wasn't thriving like I wanted her to. I then found out that peppermint is something that you need to stay away from when breastfeeding. So I tried avoiding anything that had mint in it and I was still having problems. After consulting the Modern Essentials book on essential usage, I decided to try Basil to try and increase my milk supply. Up to this point I had tried anything and everything that I could find to increase my supply and nothing seemed to be working for me. So I ordered some Basil and used it as recommended and within 2 days I noticed a significant increase in my milk supply and did not need to supplement my newborn with bottles anymore (I had been giving her 1-2 bottles of formula a day up to this point because she wasn't getting enough from me). I was amazed and so very happy!! The smell was a little strong to me at first, but after a few days I got used to it and I didn't even notice it anymore. I continued to use the Basil for several months until I gradually stopped and felt that I didn't need it anymore.

My introduction to oils
My husband's aunt introduced me to doTerra essential oils a couple of years ago. I attended a little orientation class that she gave and decided to try out a couple of the oils. At first I just used some to help prevent sickness in the family (Breathe and OnGuard). My kids especially have loved using Breathe. Whenever they come down with a cold at all they ask me to put Breathe on them because it helps to clear up the sinuses and you can literally breathe better. They especially like to use it before bedtime. I also like using the OnGuard foaming hand wash. I'm not sure if it helps or not but I like having that extra layer of protection whenever the kids wash their hands - especially in a large family like we have.
